Prince Philip General Character Profile
NAME: Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark)
ADDRESS: England, Buckingham Palace. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a setting for state occasions and royal hospitality.
DATE OF BIRTH: 10/6/1921. Born during the the Greatest Generation, also known as the G.I. Generation, is the generation that includes the veterans who fought in World War II. They were born from around 1901 to 1924, coming of age during the Great Depression. Journalist Tom Brokaw dubbed this the Greatest Generation in a book of the same name.
RELATIONSHIPS: Prince Philip was born into the Greek royal family, but his family was exiled from Greece when he was a child.
GOOD HABITS: Carries himself very well. Always well dressed, impeccable hygiene and has characterisitics and people skills expected of a royal.
BAD HABITS: Very crude, dry and sometimes racist sense of humour. Philip became famous for making remarks which some people regarded as offensive and/or based on stereotypes eg. During a state visit to the People's Republic of China in 1986, in a private conversation with British students from Xian's North West University, Philip joked, "If you stay here much longer, you'll go slit-eyed." Or when he was asked if he would like to visit the Soviet Union, he responded with “The bastards murdered half my family”.
LIKES: Fine art, design (architectural and sculptural), hunting, horse riding, carriage racing and flying.
DISLIKES: None from what I have found in my research, however, based on his racist remarks he isn't too keen on foreigners.

Prince Philip McDonalds Excercise Objectives

WHO AM I? I am Prince Philip of Wales, Duke of Edinburgh. Husband to Queen Elizabeth II. At McDonalds however, I do not want anyone to know who i am.
WHAT TIME IS IT? It is around midday during the royal tour of the commonwealth nations with her majesty, the Queen.
WHERE AM I? I am in Sydney, Australia during the tour and I have left the Hotel/Building at which the royal family is staying to sneak out and have a meal at a local McDonalds.
WHAT IS AROUND ME? A lot of people, buildings and roads. Suburban area McDonalds.
WHAT ARE THE GIVEN CIRCUMSTANCES?I am not meant to be without the presence of royal guards and certainly not anywhere which may damage my reputation even further as Prince for example a royal having a meal at a McDonalds. It is my first time at McDonalds and i have to understand that it is quite possibly the very opposite of a royal meal
WHAT ARE MY RELATIONSHIPS? I have no relationship to anyone in the McDonalds builiding however I would not mind having a conversation with someone who approaches me. I certainly wouldn't approach someone to have a chat.
WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE? I want to have a peaceful meal to myself at the local McDonalds as opposed to sharing another royal meal. I want time to myself, away from the Queen without the hassles of her presence or the presence of the guards.
WHAT STANDS IN MY WAY? The Queen, the Guards. I am quite confused on what to expect of McDonalds food. I have to overcome the social differences between me and everyone else at the McDonalds including the staff, I cannot (as much as I would like to) expect the treatment I am used to. I will have to overcome the change. Whilst still carrying myself like a royal, I cannot draw attention to myself.
WHAT MUST I DO TO GET WHAT I WANT? I must stay relatively low key and try to enjoy this meal which isn't good for me at all. As well as make sure that no one else can tell who I am. If the Queen were to find out about the meal at maccas, she would be outraged to hear how I've tarnished the royal reputation.

Biography of Early Life:
He was born in his parents' house on the island of Corfu, the son of Prince Andrew of Greece, and named Philippos. Following the first abolition of the Greek monarchy, Philip was forced into exile with his poverty-stricken parents; he was famously carried in a makeshift cot made from an orange box. Most of Philip's early life was spent moving from home to home. In adulthood, he became an officer in the Royal Navy, when he married the then-Princess Elizabeth, in 1947.
Although he was born a prince of Greece and Denmark, he renounced those titles when he became a British citizen in 1947, and adopted the surname Mountbatten, an Anglicized version of Battenberg which came from his mother's side of the family. On that occasion he was also created Duke of Edinburgh by his new father-in-law, King George VI. In 1957, he was given the title Prince Philip.
His full title is now HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich.
Unlike Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, Philip was not given the title of Prince Consort. His children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, all share a surname of Mountbatten-Windsor, given to the children in honour of their father, by Queen Elizabeth, by an Order-in-Council in 1960. However, the Royal House name remains Windsor. As consort to the Queen, Philip's responsibilities include supporting his queen in her duties as sovereign, and he is normally seen accompanying her to ceremonies including the State Opening of Parliament and overseas state visits. Philip is not only the longest-serving consort, but also the oldest serving spouse of a reigning monarch. He holds a number of royal titles, including Prince of the United Kingdom, which was bestowed upon him by the Queen in 1957.

Characterisation - taking it further
2 combinations of 4 will be assigned act 3 scene 3. You will be assigned either Lewis, Brian, dulcie or bev. You are to rehearse and perform this scene, but this time you will:
1) summaries the journey of the character for the whole play (super-objective)
2) In rehearsal, run through focusing on a single goal each time, swap characters, change entrances and exits, perform it in the value opposite to the scene (eg. Hate -> love), eat and drink while performing, perform drills that focus on difficult business in the scene.
